Programs of the Foundation are focused on COPS (Community Oriented Police Section), Kids and Canines.
The Board of Directors is made up of Alexandria business owners, community leaders and private citizens. The Alexandria Police Chief sits as an Ex-Officio member of the Board. An Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator staff the Foundation.
The Alexandria Police Foundation was founded in 2002 by Chief Charles Samarra and citizens who initiated, supported and funded programs to improve the performance and effectiveness of the Police Department.
Dedicated to providing resources to the Alexandria Police Department to improve officer performance, morale, and effectiveness, and to ensure the care and well-being of its active and retired police dogs. The APF seeks resources and grants to build and strengthen police-community partnerships.
Your tax-deductible donation impacts the programs we provide including medical insurance for K9 service dogs, scholarships to foster excellence in policing, research to improve law enforcement services, Alexandria Police Youth Camp, the Alexandria High School "Common Goals" soccer program, Alexandria Community Police Academy and many other activities to serve the community.
